Many people are getting an error message after Instagram is asking them to add their birthday and if you are confused as to what is happening, we have got all the details.
Instagram has been bringing new changes to the platform to ensure that it is a safe place for everyone to enjoy. In a bid to make it protective, it has brought about changes that may not be liked by everyone.
Recently, several users took to Twitter to reveal they were getting an error message whenever Instagram asked them to put in their birthday and due to this, their account was getting disabled.

Error message explained
Several people revealed that when they put their birthday into the system, it stated an unexpected error has been occurred before disabling the account.
This usually happens when the user has entered a birthday that does not match the birthday that has been provided on your Facebook.
The official page of Instagram notes: “If the date of birth you select on Instagram doesn’t match the date on your Facebook account, you may run into an error. You’ll then be prompted to Contact Us for assistance on setting up your age.”
Why is Instagram asking you to put your birthday?
For those confused, this is not a new change that the platform is bringing in. In fact, there had been discussions about making Instagram a safer place and hence, it has been asking you to enter your birthday.
In August 2021, Instagram had also confirmed this news in their blog post that noted: “This information allows us to create new safety features for young people, and helps ensure we provide the right experiences to the right age group.”
The blog post further noted: “Recent examples include changes we made in March to prevent adults from sending messages to people under 18 who don’t follow them, and last month we started to default new accounts belonging to people under the age of 16 into a private setting.
