Confusion is flooding TikTok as users are claiming they can’t block accounts on the platform anymore. Here’s how to do it in 2023.
The feature is one of the most important on the app. Someone’s harassing you in direct messages? Block. Don’t want to see their videos? Block.
It’s a wonderful tool that means the user will no longer be able to send you messages, see your posts or find your profile on TikTok at all.
However, the block button has gone for thousands of users. Here’s what’s going on…
Why can’t I block on TikTok?
You can still block on TikTok, the way to do so has just changed for loads of users with the platform’s most recent update.
The app is always changing the layout to keep TikTok modern and easy to use and features sometimes move around.

How to block on TikTok in 2023
Blocking will depend on which version of the app you have and whether the latest update has come to your region yet.
One common way to block is by heading to their profile and tapping on the three dots in the top right. Then, you press block.
However, the three dots have disappeared for lots of users worldwide in May 2023 and been replaced with an arrow instead.
All you need to do is tap the arrow and you’ll see the block button as usual. Click on it and you’ll be asked to confirm.
You may need to click on the person’s profile picture if there are no dots or arrows. Then, they will appear and you can press block.
Users thought block was gone
Social media users took to Twitter to try and get some answers after they thought the feature had disappeared for good.
One person wrote: “So why did TikTok take away the ability to block people? Why can’t I block people??? The option is gone on my phone.”
“Does anyone know how to block people after the new TikTok update because I can’t figure it out and I need to block at least 10 accounts a day,” said another.
A third person added: “The block button on TikTok has disappeared I am struggling.”
