UVALDE, TEXAS: The Uvalde police officer who was seen using hand sanitizer calmly while Salvador Ramos killed children has been identified.
A video shows Uvalde County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Gonzales, who is 30 years old, using hand sanitizer as the gunman kills 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School. At the same time, another officer holds back a distraught cop father whose daughter went to school there. Ramos was the one who killed the child in the end.
The Daily Mail, which found out who Gonzales was, recently saw him at church with his wife and two kids on a Sunday at the Getty Street Church of Christ in Uvalde. People saw him leave the mass and let his wife and daughter into his black Chevy Silverado before he drove away. He was seen going to the nearby Dairy Queen, going through the drive-thru, and then hanging out in the parking lot for about 30 minutes. He was seen finally going back home. When a reporter from the Daily Mail tried to talk to him about what happened at school and why he used hand sanitizer, he refused to talk and drove away.
A shocking video that came out recently showed police officers who took too long to respond to a shooting. The 77-minute video showed that the police had been watching Ramos for more than an hour before they could finally stop him. In the video, Gonzales is seen wearing a helmet and a bulletproof vest over his checkered shirt. As the shooting keeps going on, he uses hand sanitizer from a dispenser on the wall to clean his hands.

Eric Gonzales lives with his wife and two kids just two miles from Robb Elementary School. He is said to have gotten a bronze star for bravery and valor in the line of duty in December 2020. The award came after a situation in which the officer and a suspect, who is a registered sex offender, both fired their guns at each other.
Gonzales’ boss, Uvalde County Sheriff Ruben Nolasco, spoke up for him in an email to the Daily Mail. “Before breaching, the medics on site asked Deputy Gonzales to help them get ready. Since he didn’t have gloves, they told him to wash his hands “He put words on paper. But Gonzales does not appear to be “helping a medical team” in the video. Instead, he is seen putting his left hand on the wall right after using hand sanitizer. This would mean, in theory, that he got his hand dirty again.
Some of the other Uvalde officers who were there when the attack happened have been identified by the newspaper. These include Uvalde Police Lt. Javier Martinez, 53, Sgt. Eddie Canales, 37, Detective Louis Landry, 36, Venture “Ben” Chapa, 31, Lt. Mariano Pargas, 64, Detective Renato Russell Lualemaga, 30, and Uvalde School District officer Ruben Ruiz, 43. During the massacre, a police officer named Ruiz was seen looking at his phone, which had a “Punisher” wallpaper, and it turned out that he was the husband of the teacher who was killed, Eva Mireles.
When the publication tried to talk to Javier Martinez, she said she couldn’t talk because the investigation was still going on. “I can promise you, sir, that we are not scared, but we can’t talk to you. Sir, I’d be happy to talk to you when the investigation is over, but if I do, I could be charged, and I don’t want to be charged “he said.
On the other hand, Uvalde City Mayor Don McLaughlin put Mariano Pargas on administrative leave on Sunday, July 17, after a state report slammed the police response to the shooting. Pargas was in charge of the police on the day of the massacre. McLaughlin said, “This administrative leave is to find out if Lt. Pargas was responsible for taking command on May 24, what steps he took to set up that command, and if it was even possible with all the agencies involved and other possible policy violations.”
Max Dorflinger, another police officer who was at the school on the day of the shooting, was fired by the Uvalde County Sheriff. He then went to work for the Uvalde Police Department, where he still works.
Also, new information about the case suggests that two police officers might have been able to save the lives of the 19 children and two teachers that Ramos killed in a brutal way. An officer reportedly saw Ramos, who is 18, with a gun before he went to Elementary School. The officer asked for permission to shoot over the radio, but he never heard back. When the officer asked the supervisor for permission to open fire, the supervisor “either didn’t hear or responded too late.” The officer turned around and saw that Ramos had already gone inside “unabated.” A report from Texas State University said that another officer who came to help Ramos did not stop him as he walked through the parking lot toward the school. Reports say that the officer drove past the shooter at a “high rate of speed” and missed him while he was holding a rifle.
Based on what they found, it seemed like no officer waiting in the hallway during the shooting checked to see if the classroom door was locked. It also found that when the police finally got into the classroom, more than an hour after the shooting started, they were not ready to deal with the gunman. It looked like “effective incident command” was never set up between the different police agencies that came to the scene of the shooting.
Police have taken a lot of heat for allegedly not stopping the shooting fast enough or getting to the victims in time. In fact, a first responder is said to have told the mother of the victim that she died while waiting for the police to help. The child waited for the police for about an hour, but she may have died from her injuries because of the delay. The first person to get there said that if the police had come faster, the child might have lived. It was said that it took them more than 90 minutes to get into the school after they got to the campus where Ramos was brutally killing children. A Customs and Border Protection agent from an elite tactical unit who was off duty shot and killed Ramos. Before Ramos could kill any more people, the agent shot and killed him.
