Big Pokey died unexpectedly at the age of 45 after passing out on stage in Texas. According to a post on his verified Instagram account, the artist died on Sunday.
The message says, “It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Milton ‘Big Pokey’ Powell,” the post reads.

Big Pokey collapsed backward while carrying a microphone at a pub in Beaumont, Texas on Saturday, as shown in a video shared on Twitter.
The rapper was a part of the Screwed Up Click rap collective and was from Houston, Texas.
Sylvester Turner, the mayor of Houston, said in a tweet that his “presence was larger than life in helping to catapult our hip-hop scene nationally.”
“The City of Houston and I extend our prayers and condolences to our own Screwed Up Click legendary rapper #BigPokey family and friends,” Sylvester wrote.
Bun B, a fellow member of Screwed Up Click, also paid homage on Instagram.
“I wasn’t ready for this. One of the most naturally talented artists in the city.” Bun B described the man as a “Low key, a humble mountain of a man who moved with honor and respect.”
