The television show Catfish premiered in 2012 and has been a fan favourite on MTV ever since, due to the shocking nature of the events in the show, and the two co hosts.
For seven seasons, Max Joseph and Nev Schulman co hosted the show together, and their dynamic added to the popularity of the show.
However, a new co host (Kamie Crawford) has taken over from Max, and fans want to know what happened.

What happened to Max on Catfish?
In August 2018, Max Joseph announced on his Twitter account that he would be leaving Catfish, in order to pursue film making full time.
He wrote in a long post:
“The time has come, sadly, for me to move on from ‘Catfish.’ Working on this show for the last seven years has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.”
“For a while now I have been straddling two careers as TV host and filmmaker and, while this level of busy-ness is a dream come true, my life can no longer sustain it.”
His co host Nev also posted on Twitter reacting to the news, and described the last few years working with Max as a “blast”.
Nev said: “It is with a very heavy heart, that all of us at the #catfish family say goodbye to @maxjoseph – Good luck Max, love you brother.”
Who is replacing Max Joseph on Catfish?
During 2019, Catfish was hosted by Nev Schulman along with several guest hosts including Kamie Crwaford, who eventually took on the role full time.
Kamie announced that she would be a permanent co host on Catfish on Twitter, where she wrote:
“HONORED TO BE THE NEW CO-HOST OF @CatfishMTV!!!! NO ONE will ever replace @maxjoseph, but I feel so blessed and excited to be @NevSchulman’s new sidekick!!!”
