Some Instagram users were recently faced with a new feature on the platform called Hype Comments. After some initial confusion, it is now a lot clearer as to what they actually are.
Hype comments are generally described as any phrase or message that is written to promote or publicize a topic positively. Previously, Instagram gave you the option to comment on posts. Now, with the new feature, it is possible for people to leave their thoughts on your story as well.
For the first time, people can use Hype Comments to react to stories in real time. While it has always been possible to leave an emoji on someone else’s Insta story now, if you already have the upate, you can include comments.
In short, Hype Comments give Instagram users the chance to express their specific thoughts on any story they see, rather than a token (and potentially overused) emoji.
Keep in mind that these messages can be viewed by anyone who sees your story. The change comes over a year after the social media platform introduced likes to stories.
If you are someone who is not thrilled about the new feature, you always have the option of turning it off on your settings.
On December 5, several people took to Twitter to reveal they had been getting notifications about a new feature called ‘hype comment.’ This does not come as a surprise as Instagram usually tends to roll out new features in installments.
While some people can already access Hype Comments, it will be a while before every user on the platform can experience the new feature. You will get a notification on your Instagram when you are ready to roll.
When the time comes, you will receive a message that reads: “Your friends can now add hype to your story. Hype comments are visible to anyone who views your story.”
That reminder is worth repeating. After all, we should all think twice before posting certain comments online.
Other Instagram features to try
Instagram is often coming up with new updates to ensure that the users have the best experience. Here are some of the other features that you can try:
- Music for carousel posts: To do so, click on the plus button on the app. Click on the carousel icon and then select all the photos that you want. Once you reach the editing screen, you can select the song that you want.
- Reels templates: Click on the plus button and select ‘Reels’ from the list. Then select ‘Templates’ to view suggestions.
- AI stickers: Select the person you want to send a message to. Click on the plus icon at the bottom and select Stickers. Enter the text prompt for the image you want and the AI will display the sticker.
