TikTok rapper Yung Hashtag, real name Michael Burns, has tragically passed away. He was understood to have been around 27 years old.
Since joining TikTok in 2017, Yung Hashtag amassed more than 500,000 followers on the platform and accumulated more than 12 million likes.
The rapper was most well known for his songs I Hate Hashtag, Make a Move, and Off the Clock and he released an album in 2020 called #WhoPoppin.
There are few details on what happened to the TikTokker and no cause of death has been stated.

Fellow TikTokker confirmed Yung Hashtag’s death
News of the TikTokker’s untimely death began to spread online on January 15, 2023. Fellow TikTok star and friend Kastro MN’Sota posted a video confirming the sad news yesterday.
In the TikTok, Kastro said: “I just want to be the one to come out and say that [Yung Hashtag] tragically lost his life. I don’t know the details,” adding “If you watch our content we go back and we built a relationship off this app as brothers.”
He continued: “He was one of the most humble people” and asked viewers to “go show his page some love. Show his people that he was cared about.”
Yung Hashtag dropped Double Cup just two days ago
Yung Hashtag’s music career was building and he had just dropped the official music video for his song Double Cup on January 14, 2023.
The video follows the rapper as he gets on a bus and visits a fast-food restaurant amid brightly colored shots of him rapping the lyrics.
Double Cup had amassed more than 4,000 views at the time of Yung Hashtag’s passing.
On the same day of the video’s release, Burns also posted a promotional reel for the song on Instagram. Fans have since flooded the comments section with emotional tributes and condolences.
One fan wrote: “R.I.P gone too soon rest up king,” while another said: “This can’t be real.”
Fans and TikTokkers pay tribute to Yung Hashtag
Fans have taken to social media to express their shock at the sudden news and pay tribute to Yung Hashtag.
One Twitter user wrote: “Damn Yung Hashtag passed ts[sic] crazy.”
A fan commented on TikTok: “Damn. 😔 had to come to ur page and sad to see its true. rest easy homie,” while another wrote: “REST IN POWER.”
A second fellow TikTokker, Simmie, who has 4.8 million followers on the app, also posted a tribute video to the rapper.
