Molly Cheng, a tattoo artist, was the one who killed her own three children and took her own life. After her husband shot himself, it happened hours later.
Minnesota police have released some sad new details about the killings of three children by their mother on July 1.
Investigators say that Molly Cheng killed herself after smothering and drowning two of her children and then killing the third child.
After finding the bodies of a woman, her three children, and herself in a Minnesota lake, the police are looking into a “possible triple murder-suicide.”
Molly Cheng, a tattoo artist, kills three children
Molly Cheng, their mother, killed Quadrillion T. Lee, age 4, Phoenix Lee, age 5, and Estella Zoo Siab Lee, age 3. The story is making its way around the internet and news channels.
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office says that Quadrillion, Estella, and Phoenix all died because they drowned or suffocated. Their deaths were ruled to have been murders.
Cheng called the police around 10:30 a.m. on July 1 to say that her husband had shot himself. When the sheriff’s deputies got to the Rolling Hills Estates Mobile Home Park, they found that Lee had been shot and was dead.
A police press release says that Cheng’s family called 911 that day around 4 p.m. and said that Molly was going to kill herself and her children.
Maplewood police sent a message all over the country to try to find Cheng and her kids. At about 5:45 p.m., police found Cheng’s cell phone in Vadnais-Sucker Lake Park in Vadnais Heights.
Why did Molly Cheng get hurt?
Molly Cheng was a tattoo artist who killed her three children and then herself. Her story was all over the Internet.
Soon, deputies found her car in the park’s parking lot. Then, on the east side of the lake, they found her car keys and many pairs of kids’ shoes.
Around 7:30 p.m., deputies pulled Quadrillion out of Vadnais Lake and began trying to save his life. Unfortunately, medical staff said that he was dead.
At 12:03 a.m. on July 2, Phoenix was found in the lake. Cheng’s dead body was found in the lake at 10:39 a.m. Estella was found after about 20 minutes.
The grandfather of three children whose mother is thought to have drowned them over the weekend spoke out about the tragedy on Tuesday. He was shocked and saddened by what happened.
Meet Yee Lee, Molly Cheng’s husband
People.com says that Molly Cheng did the crime a few hours after telling people that her 27-year-old husband, Yee Lee, had killed himself on July 1 in their Maplewood, Minnesota, home.
On Tuesday, Chong Lue Lee talked about his son Yee Lee’s suicide and the murder-suicide of his son’s wife, Molly, and the couple’s three children. He was worried that the police would let Cheng leave with the kids.
Chong didn’t know what to say after his son Yee Lee killed himself on July 1 and his daughter-in-law Molly Cheng allegedly drowned the couple’s children and then herself at Vadnais Lake.
His grandchildren are Phoenix, Quadrillion, and Estella Lee. They are between the ages of 3 and 5, and he said that both families are struggling to deal with the deaths.
Lee said that “things were going on” between the couple, and he also said that Cheng’s family had chosen him to speak for them.
He warned people, though, not to guess or spread rumors about what caused the incidents, which were all over the news and sparked a lot of discussion on social media over the long weekend.
