Stone Cold: Overrated or Underrated?

First and foremost, are you serious that you would call Stone Cold Steve Austin, THE absolute best of all time? I am not denying that Steve Austin was good, and he had some classic matches/moments in the WWE. He is nowhere near the best of all time though. That title solely belongs to one Mr. Shawn Michaels, but that is a debate for another time. I agree though that people today are not exposed to good enough wrestling anymore. Besides HBK, Jericho, HHH, Taker, CM Punk, Orton, and perhaps a handful of others like Morrison, and Ziggler, there are hardly any good WRESTLERS out there, again though, that is a debate for another time. For now, we talk about Austin. I happened to vote that he is just a tiny bit Over-rated, and I did this for several reasons. First, as I stated before, he was a good wrestler in the ring. He wasn't the best, but he could hold his own in a match. He wasn't one of those guys though that could take a bad match and make it good, or a good match and make it great. He was pretty much middle of the pack, which is alright. It was his opponents (Bret, HBK, Taker, HHH, Angle) that made some of his wrestling matches great. I will admit though, that Austin is one of the best of all time on the Mic, which is about 75% of how you become a legend in pro wrestling, unless you are an absolutely amazing wrestler like Beniot or Mysterio. I am getting off track again though. The reason why Steve Austin is overrated is because he gets way to much credit for what happened to WCW, and he is made out to be the ONLY reason why WWE became as popular as it did during the Attitude Era. First off, if it wasn't for the people that Austin was feuding with, he never would have become as popular as he did, and vice versa. It takes more than one man to make a rivalry great. McMahon, and The Rock had some say in it as well. Secondly, Austin was just the man that got people to put the foot in the door, once it was opened though, it was an entire team effort that made the person stay. McMahon, The Rock, DX, The Nation of Domination, The Undertaker, The Corporate Ministry, The Divas, The Brood, The Hardy's, Jericho, The Radicalz, Angle, TLC, Hell In A Cell, Mankind, and so much more made the Attitude Era what it was, not just one man. What the Attitude Era was, and why it was so popular, was it was real. When you watched wrestling during that time, even though you knew it was fake, you still felt like it was real. There were real emotions, there was real intensity to every rivalry, there was blood which just added to the emotion and intensity. That is what made the Attitude Era great. Now granted, Austin was a part of that, and he was a major player in it, but he wasn't the ONLY reason why the Attitude Era was great, and until people realize that, and quit putting Austin up on this pedestal above everyone else then he will remain over-rated.
