On Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 4:30 a.m., Stephen quietly stole the master key from the warehouse and opened the door of Lauren’s apartment with the master key, while cutting Lauren’s body into hundreds of pieces with a knife. In addition, when dismembering Lauren’s body, he wore a mask and gloves to conceal it. A day later, Stephen chopped Lauren’s body with a hacksaw in the bathroom. All of her body parts were dumped in the trash near Lauren’s apartment, and her torso was outside. Other parts of her body were never found.

After receiving information about Lauren’s disappearance, the police went to his home and started an investigation. He said in an interview with WGXA that when Lauren’s body was discovered when police officers approached Stephen, he described them as a good friend of Lauren’s. On July 1, he went to the Police Department to provide some information about Lauren. It took 12 hours to deliver his statement about Lauren’s murder.
