Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: How to Defeat Team Star’s Fighting-Type Base

The fifth and strongest Team Star Base that players can raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is the Fighting-Type base, led by its boss, Eri. Located in Area Two of the North Province, the base is tucked away within the mountains and sufficiently guarded by powerful Pokémon. Conquering Eri’s team of Fighting-Type monsters may prove to be a challenge for even the most experienced players, but with the right team and strategy, the base will fall.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet introduced five Team Star Bases and an additional Boss Battle to supplement traditional gym battles and face-offs against Titan Pokémon of the Paldea region. Similar to Gym Leaders, Team Star Bosses specialize in specific types of Pokémon — like Mela, the boss of Team Star’s Fire Base in Scarlet & Violet. Raiding bases offers players with additional opportunities to showcase the strength and versatility of their chosen team, and beating Eri’s Fighting-Type Base calls for the use of exceptional strategy.

How to Win the Battle at the Gate

As with each Team Star Base in the Paldea region, a grunt will stop trainers at the gate and challenge them to a battle, allowing entry once defeated. These battles offer players a chance to discern how well their team will stack up against a base by giving them a glimpse at which Pokémon are likely to be used in addition to their levels. In this case, the grunt sends out Croagunk and Primeape. Psychic-type moves will come in handy here, and players will have plenty of options to choose from the powerful Psychic-type Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet. Flying-type moves are just as effective, and Fairy-type moves will result in a super-effective hit against Primeape, ensuring victory.

How to Take Down Eri’s Fighting-Type Base

Once inside, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet players will need to defeat 30 of Team Star’s Pokémon within 10 minutes, using only three of their own team members. The choice of which Pokémon to battle with must be made wisely, as many of the Pokémon within the base are dual-types like Medicham — a Generation 3 Psychic/Fighting-type that evolves from Meditite in Scarlet & Violet. Trainers can always heal their team using vending machines within the base, but Psychic-, Flying-, and Fairy-type Pokémon will fare the best, likely requiring little to no healing.

How to Defeat Eri’s Fighting-Type Team

As Team Star’s last line of defense before the final boss, Eri and her team of Fighting-types pull out all the stops against their opponents. Consisting of Toxicroak, Annihilape, Passimian, Lucario, and Revavroom (the Fighting-type Starmobile), Eri’s team packs a punch against Normal-, Dark-, Rock-, Ice-, and Steel-types. In addition to Fighting-type moves, players should watch out for Annihilape’s Ice Punch, as even the best Flying-type Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet may not withstand a direct hit. Revavroom’s ability, Stamina, may also pose a problem for players, as it raises the Pokémon’s physical defense stat with each hit it takes.

Players with dual-type Pokémon like Talonflame can tough out Annihilape’s Ice Punch while dealing super-effective hits. The Scarlet-exclusive Fire/Psychic-type Armarouge would also do well here. When it comes to knocking out Eri’s defensive Revavroom, special attackers like Gardevoir and Noivern will deal a lot of damage with each super-effective hit. Fortunately, Noivern can be caught in Scarlet & Violet alongside several other special attackers like Espathra and Altaria, which are conveniently located near Eri’s base. With a versatile team, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet players can conquer the base and take on Team Star’s final boss.
