Not Okay: 7 Movies & Shows Where You’ve Seen The Cast Before

Hulu’s Not Okay arrived on July 29th, starring Zoey Deutch and Dylan O’Brien and reviews have been strong so far. The two stars have previously worked together in The Outfit, just released a few months ago, and they’re great together here.

Not Okay tells the story of Danni (Zoey Deutch), a nobody writer who’s struggling in her career. She fakes a trip to Paris on social media to gain some attention and followers, but when a horrifying event strikes the heart of Paris, Danni finds herself tumbling into lie after lie. The film boasts a strong cast that you have likely seen in these other projects.

Brennan Brown – The Man In The High Castle (2015 – 2019)

Brennan Brown plays Harold, Danni’s supportive and caring father in Not Okay. The veteran actor often plays a supporting cast role, he has landed some good roles in his career.

Brennan Brown is most known for playing Robert Childan in Amazon’s hit TV show, The Man In The High Castle. Robert is the owner of an American antiques shop in San Francisco. Set in a world where World War II ended differently, America finds itself divided into three sections, all ruled by different nations.

Sarah Yarkin – Happy Death Day 2U (2019)

Sarah Yarkin is cast to play the role of Julie. Her current filmography is small since her career only started in 2019, but she’s already got some big movie projects to her name. She has mostly been in modern horror movies, making Not Okay her first break from the genre.

She played Andrea Dre Morgan in Happy Death Day 2U back in 2019, making it her first ever film role. Dre Morgan is a college student at Bayfield University who has a strong interest in science. The sequel film finds main character Tree Gelbman stuck in a time loop, like before. Not wanting to keep reliving her days over and over again, she sets out to stop it once and for all.

Karan Soni – Deadpool (2016)

Karan Soni plays the role of Kevin. Soni is a well-known face in the film industry, being active since 2010. He’s found himself across a wide range of genres in both films and television.

The biggest film he’s worked on is both Deadpool movies, starring as the taxi driver Dopinder, who is obsessed with a woman called Gia, wanting to win her heart. Deadpool tells the story of Wade Wilson, a mercenary with cancer. Ajax, a scientist promises to cure him and give him healing powers but when Wade is left disfigured, he decides to exact his revenge on the mad twisted scientist.

Embeth Davidtz – Matilda (1996)

Embeth Davidtz plays the role of Judith, Danni’s mother in Not Okay. Embeth has been in many famous and unforgettable films since the 90s. She took a break from acting back in 2014 but has recently come back to the screen. Not Okay will be her second film since her return.

Embeth Davidtz famously plays Miss Honey in the 1996 film, Matilda, a caring and kind teacher who takes a liking to young Matilda. Matilda is a kid with powers of intellect and telekinesis. She learns to use her powers against her cruel, uncaring family and the torturous school principal, who attacks Matilda and her kind-hearted teacher.

Mia Isaac – Don’t Make Me Go (2022)

Not Okay is Mia Isaac’s second film in her career, and she’s kicked off with a great start. She plays Rowan, who becomes an unlikely friend of main character Danni. Rowan is a vital main part of the film, helping Danni along the way.

Mia’s only other role was in Amazon’s film Don’t Make Me Go, which was only released a month before Not Okay. The story follows a terminally ill man and his daughter as they embark on a road trip together, but the father has more in store than his daughter had expected – he plans to make his teenage daughter and mother bond. The only problem is that she walked out of their lives years ago. Mia Isaac plays the main lead of Wally, the daughter on the road trip.

Dylan O’Brien – The Maze Runner (2014)

Dylan O’Brien plays the role of Colin, one of Danni’s questionable celebrity colleagues. O’Brien has been on screens since his teen years, finding himself in TV, before he made the move to film. He’s been in many big-name productions such as Teen Wolf, Love and Monsters, and The Outfit, where he also starred beside Zoey Deutch.

Dylan O’Brien may be most known for his starring role in The Maze Runner franchise, playing main lead Thomas. The teen sci-fi movie follows Thomas, who wakes up in a giant maze with all his memories gone. He befriends the others trapped there and they work together to try and escape, only to find out things might not be as it all seems.

Zoey Deutch – Set It Up (2018)

Zoey Deutch is the main character and anti-heroine, Danni. Deutch has been acting since the young age of 15, wanting to follow in her mother’s footsteps. She has been in an array of films and television shows since then, and now with Not Okay she finds herself in the executive producer role too.

Many may recognize Zoey Deutch from Set It Up, the 2018 Netflix romantic comedy, and her highest-rated role on Rotten Tomatoes yet. Set It Up follows two overworked and underappreciated assistants to rich business CEOs. Together they decide to hatch a plan and set up their bosses, in the hopes a happy love-struck boss will ease their workload. Deutch plays the main role of Harper, the overworked assistant.
