Lisa Marie sang about a 'space' at Graceland for her to be buried

Following her death, fans are remembering one of Lisa Marie Presley’s songs in which she sang about being buried at Graceland.

The 54-year-old died from cardiac arrest on Thursday (January 10), just days after attending the Golden Globe Awards.

She was found unresponsive at her home in Calabasas, California and rushed to hospital where she was sadly pronounced dead.

The singer, who leaves behind three daughters, lost her father Elvis aged nine and had to say goodbye to her son in 2022 who died from suicide.

Both of them are buried at the music legend’s Memphis home Graceland, and many are suspecting Lisa Marie will be laid to rest there too.

One of her old songs even hints at it, and the lyrics are even more heartbreaking following the musician’s death…

Lisa Marie sang about a ‘space’ at Graceland

The lyrics come from a song called Lights Out which Lisa released in 2003 as part of her debut album Whom It May Concern.

It’s a country track that reflects on her life as Elvis’ daughter and the chorus mentions her family being buried at Graceland and a “space” which is supposedly for her.

“Someone turned the lights out there in Memphis/ Ooh, that’s where my family’s buried and gone,” she sings. “Last time I was there I noticed a space left/ Oh, next to them there in Memphis, yeah/ In the damn back lawn.”

Elvis is buried on the ground of the estate alongside his parents Vernon and Gladys, grandmother Minnie Mae, a cenotaph for his stillborn brother Jessie and his grandson Benjamin.

Lisa’s son Benjamin, who she shared with her first husband, singer Danny Keough, sadly took his own life in July 2020.

The actor and musician, who stayed away from the limelight, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at just 27 years old.

“She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley,” her manager told TMZ. “She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”

He was laid to rest in the Meditation Garden at Graceland three months later, on October 1, alongside his family members.

Lisa Marie owned her father’s estate

When Lisa turned 25 in 1993, she inherited her father’s estate and decided to form a new trust called The Elvis Presley Trust.

On that day, she became the owner of his mansion and estate Graceland and made her mother Priscilla Presley and the National Bank of Commerce co-trustees.

She founded Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc and turned the 13.8-acre estate in Memphis, Tenessee into the tourist attraction it is today.

Following her death, it’s not clear who will inherit Graceland. Lisa has three daughters, Riley, 28, and 14-year-old twins Harper and Finley.

As the twins are teenagers, control will likely go to Riley until they are old enough to inherit part of the estate.
