Kee Riches A Young Rapper Was Shot To Death At The Age Of 23

Rapper Kee Riches, who was recently shot in Compton, California, passed away on September 24. Unfortunately, the artist was only 23 years old when he passed away.

Ice-T tweeted about the city’s escalating gun violence:

“If you notice, LA rappers don’t wear a lot of jewelry.” Me, Snoop, Cube, Dre, Game and Kendrick. The list goes on and on. Not because we are poor. Rapper or not, LA is a dangerous city. Why put yourself out there?

At around 9 p.m., the rapper was shot at the 14th block of South Chester Avenue. According to sources, officers responded to reports of a shot victim and found Riches severely injured when they arrived. The incident injured two more people, including a 29-year-old man named Robert Leflore Jr. and an unidentified woman. The woman was taken to hospital and survived, but the other two, including Riches, were pronounced dead at the scene. Any evidence linking the individuals or motives for the crime remains unclear. Given the number of cases involving rappers in recent months, it’s possible this was a robbery, although investigators have yet to confirm this.

Kee Riches spent most of his youth at Compton’s Westside. He is an avid sports fan, he started rapping at the age of 15 or 16, and he also founded a record company and clothing line ‘Get Rich’. His affection for the Compton neighborhood is evident, as he constantly strives for the development of the town. When asked about it, he once said:

“Many people often tell me that I discriminate [by] help my neighborhood, that you don’t really see a lot of artists and young people who really want to give back or support their community when they really have nothing.” “I have something to give, so I want to give something.”

Riches used to give schoolbags to students the summer before they started school, as well as give presents at Christmas. His mentality is sometimes likened to that of Nipsey Hussle, who passed away in 2019. Riches said after Hussle’s death that his biggest regret was not being able to meet Hussle. In an interview with LA TACO, he said:

“Nipsey Hussle embodies a street soldier, a real hustler.” He is a man, a parent and a hustler.
