John Benzow Obituary – Car Accident: 69-year-old Goodman, WI man dead after two-vehicle crash in Marinette County.
A two-vehicle collision in Marinette County, Wisconsin, on Monday night claimed one life.
At 5:21 p.m. on Monday, according to Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller, Marinette County Dispatch got a report of a two-vehicle collision on US Highway 8 just east of Tower Road in Goodman. One male party was reportedly stuck inside one of the cars, according to the caller.
According to the inquiry, 69-year-old John Benzow of Goodman, Wisconsin, was driving a car that was pulling out onto US Highway 8 to go west when it failed to give way to an eastbound dump truck that was partially laden.
Benzow had his seatbelt on, but he sustained fatal injuries from the crash. The Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office declared him deceased.
Randy C. Peterson, a 65-year-old Loretto, Michigan resident who was operating the dump truck, was unharmed and was wearing a seatbelt.
According to the Marinette County medical examiner, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, the crash is still being looked into. The sheriff’s office asserted that refusal to surrender the right of way played a role.
At the site, Marinette County deputies received assistance from members of the Town of Goodman Fire Department, Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine Fire Department, and Goodman Rescue.
