The journey of Ray Shoesmith has been a fascinating one since the hitman first appeared on our screens in 2018.
Shown on FX in the US and Fox Showcase in Australia, Mr Inbetween has been a hugely popular series and fans were overjoyed when its long-awaited third season finally arrived.
However, with the end of season 3 fast approaching, Mr Inbetween fans have been left asking if the show is cancelled or renewed for season 4.
Mr Inbetween season 3 recap
Season 3 of Mr Inbetween arrived on FX in the US with a two-episode double bill on May 25th, 2021.
Throughout the series so far, Ray Shoesmith (Scott Ryan) has built up a world of his own as his work as a hitman has helped him and his dysfunctional family get by.
However, in season 3, Ray’s world threatens to come crashing down as his ageing father, Bill (Kenny Graham), takes up more of his time while his bright young daughter, Brittany (Chika Yasumura), grows closer to learning about who her father really is.
An unexpected tragedy makes Ray question both his career and ethics as his family threatens to crumble around him and violence escalates.
Is Mr Inbetween cancelled or renewed for season 4?

The series has not been officially cancelled as it was the creator and star Scott Ryan’s decision to bring the show to an end after three instalments.
Speaking to Australia’s MediaWeek, Scott Ryan said: “It feels so good. I have had enough of him.”
While Mr Inbetween only began airing in 2018, the idea of the character has been present in Scott Ryan’s life for more than 20 years.
“He has been around since about 1998 or 1999 which means it’s been about 23 years,” Scott explained, “so I am sick and tired of him and can’t wait to get rid of him.”
However, when discussing what he plans next, Scott Ryan did admit that Ray Shoesmith’s adventure may not be quite finished, saying: “Who knows mate, Ray Shoesmith could pop up anywhere so people should best be careful I guess.”
How many episodes in season 3?
- Season 3 of Mr Inbetween consists of 9 episodes in total.
At the time of writing, prior to July 6th’s episode, just two episodes of season 3 remain.
The finale is due to air on FX in the US on July 13th at 10pm ET/PT and will follow the next day on Hulu.
Mr Inbetween’s final two episodes are titled I’ll See You Soon and I’m Not Leaving, the latter suggesting that Ray Shoesmith might have something to say about departing our screens.
