We all love a good mystery to delve into and Prime Video’s latest series, Three Pines, looks set to be the perfect dish to satisfy our appetites.
Starring Alfred Molina as the empathetic and astute Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, the series throws up a host of perplexing murder mysteries that have been haunting the idyllic village of Three Pines.
Each chapter is packed with twists and turns as Gamache and his team investigate the string of cases but how many episodes will Three Pines have in total and is a second season likely to follow?
Three Pines release date and plot preview
Three Pines landed on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, December 2, 2022.
Based on the best-selling novels by Louise Penny, the series follows Chief Inspector Armand Gamache as he is brought in to investigate a series of cases in the picturesque Quebec village of Three Pines.
Despite its idyllic and beguiling location, the town has recently been plagued by a string of grim murders and Gamache and his team must work to win over Three Pines’ eccentric residents in order to uncover the dark secrets hidden beneath the surface.
But as well as having to solve the never-ending string of murders, there is an ongoing case that haunts Gamache in the form of a young indigenous girl whose disappearance has not been properly investigated.
How many episodes are in Three Pines?
Season 1 of Three Pines will consist of eight episodes in total.
However, fans will have to wait weekly for new episodes to arrive rather than binging through at their own pace.
The first two chapters arrived on December 2 and two more episodes are set to arrive weekly until all eight episodes have aired.
But there is a good reason for this schedule as each two-episode bundle tells the story of one case, albeit split into two parts.

Three Pines’ season 2 chances
Prime Video has yet to announce whether they have plans for season 2 but the chances of Alfred Molina returning as Chief Inspector Armand Gamache are high.
That’s because Three Pines is based on a novel series that contains a whopping 18 books to date that can be used as source material.
On top of that, the show’s writers can always supplement Louise Penny’s original stories with mysteries of their own which gives the series plenty of potential to return for season 2 and beyond.
The defining factor in all this will be how well-received Three Pines is and the number of viewers it can attract.
