Greg enrolled in a local high school called Holy Spirit School. Growing up, he loved to play football. The game seemed to appeal to him and he decided to play for his school’s soccer team. He played football for Holy Spirit Spartans at Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, New Jersey.
The surprise came when Greg entered his final year of graduation at Holy Spirit. He was selected to the All-South Jersey team in his final year and that is exactly how his playing career began. Gregory graduated from Holy Spirit High School in 1991. Roman also received a scholarship to attend John Carroll University in suburban Cleveland after graduating in 1992.
Roman’s playing career
As soon as Roman enrolled at John Carroll University, he knew he had to join the soccer team. Roman played three seasons for John Carroll Blue Streaks and became one of the team’s top players. He has also earned a defensive starting position in his final two seasons.

Authorities were amazed by his tricks and playboy performances. Greg made 80 tackles and six tackles during his senior season, and he was recognized by the All-Ohio Athletic Conference to be mentioned honorably. The John Carroll University team shared the OAC championship that year behind the Blue Streaks defense. They drew the opponent with the lowest 98 points in the tournament after 10 matches. Roman performed brilliantly on the team and was honored for his commendable contributions.

In 1995, after graduating from college and completing all of his studies, Roman began his first coaching position with the Carolina Panthers. He has worked as the team’s strength and conditioning coach. This was like an unpaid internship for Roman to gain experience. Soon after, he started getting more projects, and eventually, he earned a reputation as the best coach out there.
Finally, in 2017, the Ravens hired Roman as a senior offensive assistant and sub-coach. In 2018, Roman was promoted to assistant head coach and head coach. Team Raven planned to completely overhaul their offense in 2019, and Marty Mornhinweg, who coordinated the attack at the time, decided to step down.

Roman has been recognized and honored in Baltimore for designing a new strategy for Raven centered on quarterback Lamar Jackson since he joined the team as offensive coordinator in 2019.
