Everything Cyberpunk 2077’s Next-Gen Update Actually Fixes

Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that had a lot of issues at launch, but many of them have now received fixes in the new 1.5 update patch for next-gen consoles. CD Projekt RED’s highly anticipated shooter RPG fell afoul of criticism when it launched in 2020, with the Cyberpunk 2077 boasting a litany of bugs, glitches, and performance problems, with these issues felt most on last and current-gen consoles. This new, long-awaited overhaul goes some way in making Cyberpunk 2077 the game it probably should’ve been at launch, with numerous glitches being removed, and a number of new features being introduced.

Due to its premature release, Cyberpunk 2077 was filled with bugs, issues, and underdeveloped features. Hype for it almost immediately died when players realized just how much work the game still needed, with Cyberpunk exemplifying to some players the increased frequency of botched video game launches. As detailed on the official Cyberpunk 2077 website, the 1.5 patch fixed a whole host of the game’s issues, from combat to NPCs to the game’s many quests, among other things. Players are likely rejoicing at the improved mechanics and smoother gameplay that it now has to offer, and some who put down the game and never picked it up again out of disappointment may now be finding their stay in Night City much more hospitable. Whether or not the update is too little too late is too early to tell, but it should provide a solid platform for Cyberpunk 2077 to hopefully grow from.

Cyberpunk’s 1.5 Patch Brings Multiple Combat Fixes

Combat is a big aspect of the game, and it wasn’t spared from the issues that plagued it due to its early release. After 16 months, Cyberpunk 2077 has finally gotten fixes for many of these issues, which is likely to please many hoping to live out their vigilante fantasies in Night City. Whether they’re beating down the various gangs and bringing justice to the streets, or even just whacking as many people as possible with a pipe, players will now find it much easier.

  • NPC animations have been smoothed out and combat interruptions have been reduced.
  • NPCs belonging to factions will now jump into combat if they see fellow members in a fight, which didn’t always work previously.
  • NPCs will now react properly when being hit by a grenade upon entering combat.
  • Combat will no longer be initiated just by roaming around.
  • An issue where V may be knocked down by hammer attacks despite them not making contact is now fixed.
  • The “Whistle” quickhack would sometimes fail and NPCs would not approach V, which has been fixed.
  • Updating Cyberpunk 2077 from PS4 to PS5 fixes many issues, among them the one where the “Hacked” status effect becomes permanent.
  • Deactivating cameras with quickhacks will also no longer interrupt enemy quickhacks if those cameras are being used as connection proxys.

NPCs are another big part of the game, and received their fair share of fixes in patch 1.5. The various characters of Night City had their own issues due to the too-soon release date, but now that many of them are fixed, hopefully, the game will go smoother. They’re a big part of immersion, so getting them just right is key for a game like Cyberpunk 2077.

  • During the Sasquatch, Oda, Adam Smasher, Royce, and Beat on the Brat boss fights, NPCs will now behave as they should.
  • Some NPCs were previously unable to break through V’s guard in melee fights, which means that players should save some money for upgrades in Cyberpunk 2077.
  • During aerial takedowns for enemies and V, there were a couple of clipping issues, which are fixed for both of them.
  • Clipping was also a problem when V was grappling enemies while crouched, but not anymore.
  • V’s death animations also had issues while grappling an enemy, which has been fixed.
  • Security, bouncers, and police can now no longer have bounties.
  • Issues with T-posing NPCs are now fixed.
  • Some NPCs who should have been able to apply status effects couldn’t, which has also been fixed.

Quests are possibly the most important part of Cyberpunk 2077, and they received a lot of fixes. Whether it was quests not progressing properly or sometimes not even starting, players were frustrated by their inability to accomplish certain goals in Night City. Thanks to all of these fixes, however, that frustration should be over. Cyberpunk 2077 might just deserve a second chance.

Since some of the issues involved even the main quests, they could literally break the game. Players would be unable to progress any further, which can be heartbreaking when they spend a lot of time working on their character. Hopefully, they won’t need to restart Cyberpunk 2077‘s story due to bugs or issues anymore.

  • The distorted visual when returning from Cyberspace will no longer persist.
  • River will no longer hang up immediately after V calls him.
  • During the quest “Automatic Love”, Lizzie’s Bar will no longer be closed when it should be open.
  • After “Beat on the Brat: The Glen”, El Cesar will no longer message V about his car if they let him keep it.
  • A “Disasterpiece” issue where V was unable to enter the van after obtaining the XBD is now fixed.
  • Cyberpunk 2077‘s quests might be easy to miss sometimes, but in “Dressed to Kill”, the Thornton Colby Car will no longer go missing.
  • In “Ex-Factor”, the issue where Judy fails to call to start the quest is fixed, as is the one where she doesn’t spawn at the Cloud balcony.
  • In “Life During Wartime”, the “Scan the tracks” objective will no longer shift location.
  • Two issues in “M’ap Tann Pelèn”, one where the NPC in the butcher shop didn’t spawn and another where Placide will refuse to talk to V at Rolland’s, have both been fixed.
  • In “Pisces”, the issue preventing V from leaving Hiromi’s apartment if they made a call during the elevator ride to the maintenance floor has been fixed.
  • In “Riders on the Storm”, it sometimes wasn’t possible to talk to Panam or Mitch, which has been fixed.
  • Main quests sometimes didn’t appear after completing “Search and Destroy”, which has now been fixed, so Cyberpunk 2077‘s punk and basic endings are more accessible.
  • Panam sometimes wouldn’t call to start the quest during “With a Little Help from My Friends”.
  • The issue preventing players from picking up evidence during “Assault in Progress at Charter Hill” is fixed.
  • “Assault in Progress at Corpo Plaza” will no longer be blocked if players collect evidence before they visit Heywood.
  • “Assault in Progress in Kabuki” will no longer reappear after completing “The Prophet’s Song”.
  • In “Gig: Breaking News”, the truck will no longer fall underground.
  • “Gig: Family Heirloom” will no longer be stuck on “undiscovered” after approaching the marker.
  • “Gig: Freedom of the Press” will no longer fail upon entering the TV studio.
  • The car in “Gig: Going-Away Party” will no longer spawn underground.
  • The elevator in the hotel in “Gig: Guinea Pigs” will open as it should.
  • The car in “Gig: Life’s Work” will spawn correctly now, so players won’t need to mod Cyberpunk 2077 to play the game.
  • The SUV in “Gig: The Lord Giveth and the Lord Taketh Away” will spawn correctly.
  • “Cyberpsycho Sighting: Smoke on the Water” will no longer have an objective that cannot be completed.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Miscellaneous Fixes In The 1.5 Update

Of course, Cyberpunk 2077 also has a few fixes that don’t relate to combat or gameplay. They’re mostly graphics and behind-the-scenes fixes that players might not notice if they’re not paying attention, or ones that are specific to either the console or PC versions of the game. They’re just as important as, if not more so than, the gameplay fixes, and are likely to be welcomed by fans.

  • Johnny Silverhand’s subtitles will no longer get stuck on the screen.
  • The game has fixed AVs that were flying through buildings.
  • Unspecified fixes have been made in order to improve stability and optimize the game, so getting the Platinum Trophy in Cyberpunk 2077 shouldn’t take long.
  • On PC, Resolution Scaling on AMD graphics cards will no longer be blocked when Ray Tracing is enabled.
  • On console, V’s hair and mouth will no longer be visible in the first-person view.

It’s safe to say that CD Projekt RED has fixed a lot in its 1.5 patch update, and yet it pales in comparison to the 500+ fixes that came in 1.2. Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t get the release that it should have, but it’s looking like it might finally living up to its hype over a year on from its launch. Cyberpunk 2077 has the opportunity to be the experience that it should have been from the start, should CD Projekt provide more updates like this in the months to come.
