Donald Passmore Obituary: Body cam footage shows Wallingford police fired about 10 shots, killing man in a North Airline Road home.
The state inspector general announced on Wednesday that a 61-year-old man was shot and killed by police early on Monday morning inside a house on North Airline Road.
According to the state Office of the Inspector General, Donald Passmore was the victim of the incident.
On Wednesday, the inspector general released body cam footage of Wallingford police officers Gordon McCaskill and Robert Bellucci public. The footage showed Passmore being shot several times after he appeared to disobey their orders to reveal his hands while lying on a bed.
According to the OIG’s office, at 2:35 a.m. on Monday, Wallingford police were called to a residence on the 100 block of North Airline Road in reference to a man who had shot himself in the face.
The police conversed with Passmore for almost nine minutes, according to the OIG’s office. The inspector general claimed that throughout that time, they repeatedly told Passmore not to touch the rifle and requested him to raise his hands in the air.
According to the OIG’s office, at 2:54 a.m., police yelled, “Put your right hand up!” and “don’t touch the gun!” Approximately ten rounds were fired at Passmore at that point, according to the inspector general, who also stated that officers found a.22 calibre pistol on the bed.
Employees of the Wallingford Police Department provided medical care until Emergency Medical Services could arrive, according to the OIG’s office. After that, Passmore was brought to the MidState Medical Centre in Meriden, where at 3:37 a.m., they declared him dead.
