Trudy Monk was a fictional character from the American series Monk. She hardly dated anyone in high school and believed her destiny would take her to the right man. However, she was attracted to her professor at the University and became pregnant, only to later learn that he fooled her.
Monk hunts for his wife’s murderer for twelve years and finally finds the main antagonist behind several crimes at the end of the series. The series got several awards and had a Turkish adaptation, which ran from 2013 to 2014.
The series ended in 2009, and people waited for the reunion. Fortunately, a film named Mr. Monk For Mayor was released in 2012. It is a scripted short, ‘Mr. Monk Shelters in Place’ was released in 2020, and a 90-minute-long Monk film was released last year. It also leads to a behind-the-scenes podcast and several novels.

Yes. Trudy Monk cheats on her husband, Adrian Monk, in the American mystery comedy–drama television series Monk Series 8. Former homicide detective Monk hunts for his wife’s murderer throughout the season and tracks him down in the 15th and 16th episodes.
Monk finds a videotape recording that shows Trudy’s confession of having had an affair with Ethan Rickover, a married law professor working for the University of California, Berkley.
Trudy was pregnant with Ethan’s child, who died during birth, according to Ethan. Thus, she broke up with Ethan and moved on with university librarian Adrian Monk. However, before beginning a relationship with him, she was approached by another man who asked for her phone number.
Trudy wrote her phone number, placing the piece of paper on Monk’s back, which helped him memorize her number. Thus, he took a bold move and called her, which gradually brought them closer.
Trudy hid the truth from Monk when she was alive but recorded it before dying because she suspected Ethan of malicious intentions and left it for Monk as a Christmas present. He finally opens it after twelve years of Ethan poisoning him.
After Trudy’s Death
Monk’s brother, Ambrose, thought Trudy died due to his request for her to run an errand that day. Thus, he did not attend her funeral, and Adrian Monk distanced himself from him for seven years. Her parents never recovered from grief, and Monk did not laugh after her death.
Monk continued the wristwatch she had gifted him, though it had stopped functioning a long time ago. Her corneas were donated to a Brazilian taxi driver, whom Monk unknowingly stumbled upon after some years. He found something familiar in her eyes. Thus, he investigated and found the truth.
Crimes Committed By Ethan Rickover
The twist is that Trudy gave birth to Ethan’s daughter, who never died. Ethan’s midwife, Wendy Stroud, delivered the girl and secretly took her to an orphanage and hammered the final nail to her coffin by threatening Ethan to disclose his deeds.
Ethan desperately wanted to be an appellate judge and did not want any hurdle. So, he killed Wendy and buried her in his front yard, which would, in turn, bury his dark secrets. On the other hand, Trudy smelt fishy after Wendy’s sudden disappearance.
Considering Trudy as a potential threat, Ethan committed one more crime by murdering her. He planted a bomb below her passenger seat in a parking area and lured her to come there before blasting it. None, except Ethan, could guess the reason for her presence in the parking space after her death.
Monk surprisingly gets assigned a missing Wendy’s case. He tracks her workplace during an investigation and stitches all the pieces together. Finally, he finds the real villain, Ethan, and blackmails him. However, Ethan, who is not an easy target, trickily poisons Monk, surprisingly steals his gun, and shoots himself instead of getting punished for his crimes.
Trudy’s Daughter
Trudy gave birth to a daughter, who was secretly taken to an orphanage by Wendy. Fortunately, she got adopted later but did not know about her biological parents. Known as Molly Evans, she resembles her mother. The 26-year-old is a writer and works for a local newspaper.
Molly provokes fatherly love in Monk, who decides to retire from his work to spend more time with her, which will help him stop missing Trudy. However, Molly pushes him to continue his work and help other people. Thus, he looks after his daughter just like Trudy must have done and helps others solve cases.
