Diane Ronnau Passed Away After A Long Battle With Cancer

Diane Ronnau, a longtime CBS News producer, died on July 23 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She has been a producer of many news programs on the channel. Ronnau is most recognized for her work on 48 Hours and CBS Evening News.

Ronnau discussed her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and her determination to battle it in a 2007 interview with CBS’ Sandra Hughes. Prior to the aforementioned interview, the senior news producer was diagnosed with cancer and had been battling the disease for 15 years.

Ronnau appears to have survived the cancer, according to CBS News reporter Joy Benedict’s Facebook post for her. However, her message implied that Ronnau’s pancreatic cancer was cured.

Ronnau worked for CBS for three decades, producing series like 48 Hours and the CBS Morning Show. Her LinkedIn profile says the senior news producer lives in Los Angeles, California. In addition, she occasionally produces CBS Sunday Morning. CBS reports that:

“For the past 20 years, she has worked as a producer for the CBS Evening News, covering issues ranging from law and politics to scientific and medical discoveries.”

Diane Ronnau was also involved in recent coverage of the conviction and punishment of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd, according to the news network’s online publication portal. Ronnau is said to have made certain news.

Ronnau was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in the category “Outstanding News of a Breakthrough Story in a Newsletter” in 2018 for the network’s coverage of the Las Vegas tragedy. The late CBS News producer didn’t say much about her 15-year battle with pancreatic cancer. In a 2007 interview with Sandra Hughes, Ronnau described why she kept quiet about the illness. The Los Angeles native informs the landlord:

“The reality is that sometimes you do things because you have to. I’m not well, but I also have an obligation. I have a family, I work, and I have to do those things. I’m worried about getting sick, but I really want to stick with the rest of my life, which I’m pretty dedicated to.”

She went on to say at the time:

“Cancer decided not to identify me. I have chosen to identify as a working mother.

Ronnau has Stage IV pancreatic cancer, according to multiple tweets after her death. Joy Benedict’s Facebook memorial to Ronnau says the late journalist was survived by her children, Ben and Aiden.
