Chainsaw Man has quickly established itself as one of the most popular shonen anime of the year and arguably has the potential to be one of the most beloved shows in the entire genre.
While the story has its dark and depressing moments, it’s also highly meme-able and has some very ridiculous plot elements. Fans on social media have captured these moments beautifully in some hilarious memes that are fitting for such a wild anime. These are the memes that sum up the anime series the best.
Anime villains are often more terrifying than villains from Disney and other western media. However, there’s a gag in the Chainsaw Man community that the greatest villain in the show is just doors.
It feels like every time a character opens or closes a door in Chainsaw Man, something truly traumatic happens. Fans of the anime who were recently exposed to Aki’s backstory for the first time may be familiar with the beginning of a long line of tragic door-related incidents.
Kobeni’s Tragic Story
Guts in Berserk has one of the most well-known tragic stories of anyone in anime and is constantly used as a meme to describe a character going through absurd hardships.
Along with a cameo from Zoro to use as an example of great pain, the three-franchise meme centers around Kobeni: a character recently introduced in the anime. Kobeni goes through some difficult situations that are oftentimes more ridiculous than anything, and the meme successfully displays her wild responses to the odd situations she finds herself in.

From the Forgers to the Zoldycks, great anime families are often some of the most unconventional. Case in point, the found family of Aki, Power, and Denji makes for one of the most wholesome yet tragic families in fiction.
Each member of the trio has been through a great deal of tragedy in their lives, which is part of what makes their bond so special to the community. While other anime trios like Team 7 may be a bit more popular, it’s arguable that no group of three anime characters can match the dynamic of the Hayakawa family. Every manga reader and anime watcher alike has treasured the simple moments of domestic happiness that the tragic trio finds together.
Everyone Has a Different Favorite
Everyone has a favorite character from Chainsaw Man, and everyone has their least favorite as well. For the vast majority of the community, their least favorite is the incredibly manipulative Makima.
The beloved Power and Reze, who has yet to be introduced in the anime, are many viewers’ preferences, both as love interests for Denji and as characters, overall. However, some fans prefer the timid Kobeni to the other main love interests for Denji, and the Kobeni fanbase is incredibly loud and proud of their favorites.
Power Being Useless
Power and Denji evolved to have one of the best platonic friendships in anime. However, she was unfortunately pretty useless to her friend in his battle against the mighty leech devil.
Power had an excuse to sit with her cat throughout the entire battle against the bat devil, considering she was in its stomach. However, she didn’t look particularly weakened when the leech devil appeared, and she’d proven herself as a character who is very capable in battle. Thus, it sours people a bit on Power to see her not be helpful to her human companion.

The protagonist and the two deuteragonists may make for a wholesome household, but that doesn’t stop Denji and Power from getting on the responsible Aki’s nerves every day.
The pair are undoubtedly funny, but fans couldn’t help but wish they were a bit more useful to Aki. He makes their food, manages them, and is practically a single father for a pair that aren’t much younger than he is. Unfortunately, Aki doesn’t have the ability to stand up to Makima and is pretty much stuck with them for the entire series.
Denji & Makima’s Unhealthy Relationship
Pochita is one of the cutest mascots in anime, and the chainsaw dog has interestingly left quite a bit of his personality with Denji. Particularly, his dog-like personality and loyalty to Makima.
Makima and Denji’s relationship is obviously very toxic. However, some memes like to have fun with it and compare them to a wholesome dog and owner relationship. Their relationship is even funnier when juxtaposed with the other dog/human duo of the winter anime season: Anya and Bond Forger, the epitome of wholesomeness.
The Joy Chainsaw Man Brings Every Tuesday
The “gentleman” frog is a pretty common meme, mainly used when announcing a game or show is about to be released. This time, the frog is used to assert the hype that Chainsaw Man brings to anime lovers every week.
In an anime season packed with some of the best shows on the market, Denjiadds joy to the weekday while other anime’s incredible characters like Shigaraki Tomura, Loid Forger, and Yoichi Isagi have been making weekends incredible.

Chainsaw Man has plenty of scenes in the manga that will likely traumatize anime fans for years to come. However, the most infamous and relatively spoiler-free one is the disgusting barf scene that will be in an upcoming episode.
The people at Mappa haven’t shied away from the grosser scenes from the manga so far, and they’ve gone all-out with scenes like the Bat Devil’s demise. Therefore, fans are waiting in anticipation for the disturbing Himeno moment from the manga that traumatized all readers.
The Opening Easter Egg
“Kick Back” is a great opening song that properly showcases how much Denji simply wants to live a normal life. It showcases all his desires, as well as his teammates, Aki and Power.
Aki’s power, the ability to summon the Fox Devil, is activated by making a fox face with his hand. He does the same motion at the end of the opening as the camera goes black, presumably implying that he killed the cameraman for the opening with the Fox Devil’s powers.
