Brad Boyd Obituary: Burkburnett head football coach, Brad Boyd dies following battle with cancer.

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, Burkburnett ISD announced the passing of Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, Brad Boyd, via a statement shared on social media.

“It is with heavy hearts that Burkburnett ISD respectfully acknowledges the passing of our Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, Brad Boyd,” the district said. Coach Boyd passed today (Saturday) at 12:37 PM after a long and hard fought battle with cancer.”

He was 48 years old.

“Coach Boyd was in his third year with the district and in that short time, he made a tremendously positive and lasting impact on our athletics program and our school. We ask that you please be respectful of the family and keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with the loss of a husband and father. BISD offers our love, prayers, and grace to Brad‘s wife, Leslie, and their children, Brooke and Brody.”

Burkburnett went 12-20 in three seasons under Boyd, making the playoffs in the past two years.
