Beyoncé becomes first black woman to debut at No. 1 on Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart

(WVUE) - As one of the most accomplished pop music artists of all time, Beyoncé is no stranger to dominating the charts.

Even with her multitude of accomplishments, she’s a pioneer in the world of country music. In true Beyoncé fashion, she’s already dominating there too.

Beyoncé currently has two Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Both “Texas Hold ‘Em’” and “16 Carriages” debuted on the chart after heavy Super Bowl teases and the announcement of Beyoncé's upcoming album “Act II”, her eighth studio full-length release.

With Texas Hold ‘Em’ going straight to No. 1, Beyoncé has become the first black woman artist to debut a song on the Hot Country Songs chart. She’s also now the only other woman to achieve the same feat since Taylor Swift did it twice in 2021 with the re-releases of “Love Story (Taylor’s Version) and “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version), according to Billboard.

Beyoncé has also become the first woman to ever hold top spots on both the Hot Country and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop charts. The only other artists to ever do it are Morgan Wallen, Justin Bieber, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Ray Charles.

Both of Beyoncé's current chart-leading singles were released on Feb. 11 following a Super Bowl ad she appeared in with Verizon. Moments after the ad aired, the Grammy-winning Texas native posted the songs on her official website.

Texas Hold ‘Em’ is the 16th song to debut at No. 1 on the Hot Country chart in the history of the chart. The last song to debut at No. 1 was the September release of Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ “I Remember Everything”.
