Aubrey Plaza reacts to Wednesday fan casting: How would it look?

Wednesday has truly stolen the spotlight on Netflix recently. The coming-of-age horror-comedy series premiered on Netflix in November and soon hit the top spot in the platform’s top 10 shows category, yet to come down in numerous territories. It’s a straight-up sensation and numerous elements of the series have generated discussion online.

Co-created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, Tim Burton serves as both executive producer and director while Jenna Ortega tackles the titular role as the Addams teen begins her first year at Nevermore Academy and stumbles upon a compelling mystery.

Jenna’s portrayal of the iconic character has been championed endlessly and many have argued that her take is just as special as Christina Ricci’s from the classic 1990s movies.

On the other hand, fans of the show can’t help but offer their fan-casting ideas, explaining that their pick for adult Wednesday is Aubrey Plaza.

With so many saying it, it’s perhaps no surprise that the fan casting has reached the actress herself…

Aubrey Plaza reacts to Wednesday fan casting

GQ Magazine recently sat down with Aubrey for a segment they often do which involves popular figures going undercover on the internet to answer fan questions.

“If they did a sequel show/movie with an adult Wednesday and couldn’t get Christina back, Aubrey would be my first pick for Wednesday,” one fan wrote on Reddit.

Aubrey responded to the idea of playing Wednesday and explained that she feels she’s more likely to be in the running to potentially play Morticia (Wednesday’s mother, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones in the Netflix series).

“I love Wednesday Addams, I love Christina Ricci,” she typed in reply. “But unfortunately I’m more in the Morticia casting pool at this point.”

However, she went on to say during the interview that “if they did like a newly divorced Wednesday going on a wellness retreat in Arizona – I’m pitching a movie right now, this is gold. I need to call Tim Burton.”

How would Aubrey Plaza look in Wednesday costume?

A fan page for Aubrey called Best Of Aubrey Plaza posted a snap of the actress in a Wednesday-esque costume, claiming that the star dressed as the Addams Family character in 2017.

Indeed, it gives a pretty good insight into what many fans would have in mind casting her in the part:

‘If Netflix ever does a timeskip’

Given the success of season 1, it’s hard to imagine anybody other than Jenna in the Wednesday role.

Nevertheless, the Aubrey fan casting continues to pick up on Twitter, with some suggesting a way around either actress missing out:

Wednesday is streaming exclusively on Netflix.
