Adrian Newey began his racing career after graduation, working for the Fittipaldi Formula One team with Harvey Postlethwaite. He also became a member of the March group. He gave the March GTP sports car a very successful shape and won the IMSA GTP championship two years in a row in 1984. Newey went to the March IndyCar extension in 1984, acting as race designer and builder for Bobby Rahal. Newey’s March 85C strategy won the 1985 CART championship with Al Unser and the 1985 Indy 500 with Danny Sullivan.
